The Home Services Directory.

A two-county directory of local home-service contractors — plumbers, electricians, landscapers, painters, and every trade in between. Most entries are public records listings we've compiled from the California CSLB licensee database so you have a starting point. A growing group has earned the Solaris Approved badge — vendors we've personally vetted for license, insurance, references, and quality of work.

Look for the ✓ Solaris Approved badge. It's how you tell the difference at a glance.

How to read this directory

Two tiers. One badge to look for.

Every entry in the directory falls into one of two tiers. Knowing which is which is the difference between a useful starting point and a vendor you can trust without doing your own homework.

  • Tier 1 — Public Records Listing. Compiled from the California CSLB licensee database so you can see who holds a contractor's license in your city. Not independently vetted by Solaris. Verify license status, insurance, and references before hiring.
  • Tier 2 — Solaris Approved. A vendor who applied, signed our Vendor Code of Conduct, and had license, insurance, references, and workmanship reviewed by a Solaris property manager. Look for the badge on the card.
  • Both tiers are free to browse. No pay-to-play. Vendors don't pay to be listed, and Solaris doesn't take a percentage of jobs.
  • Every vendor in the directory is local to Santa Cruz County or Santa Clara County — we don't list out-of-area chasers.

The Solaris Approved badge.

Most directory entries today are public-records listings — a license and a phone number, nothing more. The Solaris Approved program is how we close that gap: when a vendor earns the badge, it means a Solaris property manager has personally verified their license, current insurance, references, and quality of work.

Status: launching with charter Approved vendors in 2026. If you're a vendor, apply below.

How to use the directory

For tenants & landlords

Find a vendor, contact them directly, get the work done. Solaris stands behind the vendors that carry our Approved badge — and we keep the rest of the directory accurate so you have a real starting point.

  1. Pick a category. Click any tile above. You'll see every local contractor in that trade for your city.
  2. Look for the Solaris Approved badge. Badged vendors have been vetted by us. Un-badged "Public Records Listings" are starting points — always verify license, insurance, and references yourself before hiring.
  3. Contact the vendor directly. Phone, address, and license number are on every card. Tap to call. (Approved vendors also accept quote requests through the site.)
  4. Rate them when finished. Your feedback feeds the next round of Approved-vendor reviews and helps everyone in the community.

Vendors who applied, signed our Vendor Code of Conduct, and had license + insurance verified by Solaris. The gold standard.

Local Listing

Tier 1 — Public-records listing

Sourced from public records (CSLB licensee database). Factual contact info only. Not independently vetted by Solaris. Vendors can claim & upgrade to Tier 2 anytime — or request removal.

Network FAQ

Common questions.

Is every vendor in this directory vetted by Solaris?

No — and we're upfront about that. The directory has two tiers. Tier 1 entries are Public Records Listings compiled from the California CSLB licensee database — factual contact info only, not a Solaris endorsement. Tier 2 vendors carry the Solaris Approved badge, which means a Solaris property manager has personally verified their license, current insurance, references, and quality of work. Look for the badge. If a card doesn't carry it, treat the entry as a starting point and do your own due diligence before hiring.

How is this different from Yelp, Angi, or Thumbtack?

Those are open marketplaces where anyone can pay to be listed. Our Tier 1 directory is sourced from public records, not paid placements — and our Tier 2 (Solaris Approved) program is curated and free for vendors who qualify. No pay-to-play in either tier.

Do I have to be a Solaris client to use the directory?

No. The directory is public. Any homeowner, tenant, or landlord in Santa Cruz or Santa Clara county can browse vendors and contact them. Solaris-managed properties get priority response from our Approved vendors.

Does Solaris take a cut?

No. Vendors don't pay to be listed (either tier), and Solaris doesn't take a percentage of jobs they win through the directory. You quote, you bill, you keep all of it. The directory is a community resource and a trust mechanism, not a transaction layer.

What happens if a Solaris Approved vendor does bad work?

Owners and tenants rate Approved vendors after a job. Low ratings trigger a Solaris review. Vendors who can't maintain Solaris's quality standards lose the badge. Our reputation is on the line every time someone uses an Approved vendor.

I'm listed in Tier 1 but I didn't ask to be. How do I claim or remove my entry?

Tier 1 listings come from public CSLB data and exist for the convenience of homeowners searching for local contractors. If your business is listed and you want to claim it (and apply to upgrade to Solaris Approved), use the application form below. If you want your entry removed, email hello@solarispm.com and we'll take it down within 5 business days.

I'm a vendor with a lapsed license. Can I still apply?

You need an active California Contractor's State License Board (CSLB) license for trades that require one. Handyman work under $500 (per California's small-jobs rule) is permitted without a license, but we still verify references and insurance.

How many vendors will be in the network at launch?

We're aiming for at least one approved vendor per category per major city in both counties before public launch. Charter vendors who apply during 2026 get founder-tier placement on the directory.
